Mulled Coke
Dec. 19th, 2013 10:29 amMarketspice tea. I am fond of it. Black as sin, and with enough cinnamon, clove, and orange zest that I can't taste the tea. On an initially unrelated note, I often doctor my Coke with flavored syrups. Hazelnut is one of my favorites. Cherry and vanilla are both nice. And one day there was a little bit of tea in the bottom of my mug. And I began to think... Cinnamon. Clove. Citrus. These are all flavors that might complement the dark flavor of my favorite soda. All that was left was to determine a delivery method.
It began with just a little very hot water in the mug with a fresh tea bag. Ministeeped for a while--long enough that I forgot it was there and smiled in a blissful spicy steamy fog--and then shuttled off to the kitchen where I removed the bag and popped the mug into the freezer. I only kept it in there until the mug and the tea were chilled, but I wonder what letting it freeze would do.
And then I popped the can and added the foamy sugary brew to my concoction.
And while it wasn't, I think, worth the time to prepare it, it was still nice.
