Chicago Shuffle 2: Follow Up
Jan. 20th, 2015 02:42 amSo the weekend didn't end quite as glowingly as it began. I woke up this morning having trouble breathing--like I couldn't get enough oxygen out of the air. It felt a lot like drowning. I mentioned it to Rose, but I'd been kind of a drama generator and so I didn't add "And I think I'm going to die." I grayed out briefly, but something changed and I didn't pass out. There was pressure in my chest, I had heartburn, and my right arm was numb. That was enough to send me back to the living room to say "Um. I don't want to play 'look at me' again, but I think I'm having a heart attack." And they promptly did the right thing and bundled me off to immediate care. Rose sat with me and kept me from freaking out too much. They didn't think I was having a heart attack--EKG was normal for starters. They recommended that I stop being so stressed out all the time, and gave me a prescription for Pepcid. And since I got home, I've had a little trouble catching my breath.
The moral of the story is: If you're going to have a heart attack, don't do it around
