35 And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

36 Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the Lord, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.

37 Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.

Coyote Television: Legend of Korra

So we've been checking out Korra on the old tv there and I really like the first season and the stuff with the equalists generally speaking. But I am not falling in love with the Red Lotus thing. It ... smacks of lazy writing.

It supposes that there were four super criminal masterminds, a mastet water bender, a master earth bender, a master fire bender, and... a guy who works out a lot and sings lead for Black Flag. They go into super hyper secure mega lockdown prison until, hey here's a coincidence, the group of four people with three elements covered suddenly discovers that they're all full up. And since that was the only thing keeping them in check, they tear out of their respective super prisons, even when advance warning is sent, like a kitten popping out of a tissue box. And apparently they're an even more super secret society than the White Lotus, who apparently are a bunch of splitters. And just to top it off, he's not just an earth bender, he's a *LAVA* bender! And she's not just a fire bender, she's an *EXPLOSION* bender! And she's not just a water bender, she's... a wacky arm waving inflatable water bender.

The idea that in order to bring balance to the world, the Avatar is supposed to tear down any sort of order or hierarchy has some interesting ideas to it, but really I hope this plotline goes away soon.
