256MB of storage, plays 8 hours of .wma or over four hours of .mp3 and on sale at Sears this weekend for $80.
It also has an FM tuner so I could watch episodes of the X-Files while at the gym.
I am strongly tempted to budget this.

My brother got me one of these for Christmas. It's no iPod, but it's reasonably nifty. It uses AAA batteries, which seem to last about 24 hours... which is a goodly number of trips to the gym.

I find 256MB enough to hold about 2 CDs worth of MP3's at high bitrate. Cut the bitrate down, and sure, it'll hold more.

Yeah, it's not an iPod but I'm not buying an iPod. Firstly because I'm leery of changing the format on every single piece of music I own, and secondly because Apple has this habit of pricing itself out of my market.
