Last night after work I went out to the car and spun the key. No response. No cough, no encouraging whine, just dead silence. It was just about the thing that put me off cars forever--everybody still drives way too close to me and I'm considering driving 280 because I figure it'll be less frightening.
The area behind the airport is confusing and I'm guessing partly private because the mapping functions don't seem to have street names or maps. So it took about half an hour to tell AAA where to send the rescuer. But when he got there, it was a simple fix. He told me the name of the part in car words, but I don't remember it. It looks like the cable that makes electricity go from my battery to my car was loosened in the collision, and then fell off last night while I was at work. So he tightened my screw and I was on my way.

For those of you who received copies of 'Sick and Wrong' or 'Good for You!' this holiday season, I have the refined versions and will gladly burn the *Director's Cut* in January if you let me know. Larry and Cari, you are the only two I don't have a method of delivery worked out for your presents. Ummm. Everybody else, I would love to see you and give you some holiday cheer, but Tersa has volunteered to deliver presents like a particularly Celtic Saint Nicholas.

Today is one of the few days in the past months that I've managed to arrange to eat in a manner that makes me comfortable. This would involve not eating a lot of crap food, and not eating two meals for the day.
First, I got up and moving quickly enough to actually make two meals between getting up at ten and leaving at one-thiryt. At tennish, I made eggs with mushrooms and paprika sausage. Since I figured the sausage had enough fat in it, I strained the yolks out. (First time doing that, and it went swimmingly. No spills, no breaks.)
Noon was hummus on bread and a pint of water. Now, here's the tricky part usually--I go to work and can't get a lunch break until eight-thirty or nineish. Which means most days I go nine hours between meals. So today I had two little baby satsumas and a dozen baby-cut carrots in vinegar and soy, for the snacking until I was able to actually get to lunch. Which today will be one of those foil MRE-style packets of punjab choley with yoghurt and maybe steamed white rice from upstairs.
Wow. That was boring. Why the hell are you still reading?

*hugs* I'm so sorry for your car woes.

If you can manage some day time hang out time, I'm happy to show you the ropes when it comes to batteries and schtuff to check when the car doesn't turn on.

OK, this is the third or fourth time recently I've seen "satsumas" mentioned, but I still have no idea what they are. Pls advise?

Satsumas (or, more specifically Satsuma Mandarin Oranges) are very small, sweet oranges that are seasonally available around this time of year.

Because we love you and we're interested in what you have to say.

It was probably the battery cable, or a cable attached to the alternator, or a spark plug cable. :)

So you think it was some sort of cable, then?

Usually it's just that I was stupid and left the headlights on. So I was confused when I checked and the lights were in fact quite off.

It warms the cockles of my heart that my daily menu makes your reading list, and makes me worry that you either have far too much time on your hands or you're just a little barmy. (: *HUGS*

Definitely battery cable. Spark plug cable would cause a different set of symptoms. Typically if the accessories don't turn on, the problem is electrical. Troubling your mechanic did not check this out after he had heard about the accident.

To be fair, my mechanic didn't see the car after the accident. I asked him for a recommendation for a body shop, and he said that for what I wanted (get it done quickly and inexpensively) Liem was a good bet. Dunno who he would have pointed me toward if I'd said get it done perfectly, which was my other option.

Glad your car is better again. And the food sounds the yum. Or would that be teh yum? :)

I'm perfectly willing to accept correctly spelled articles. (: The Trader Joe's Indian Meal in a Box is much better than it has any right to be.

Kinda what I figured, since it's the most obvious one that usually screws on :)

Wow. That was boring. Why the hell are you still reading?

Because it's the only way I would 'see' you during the week, otherwise. :)

So, what's the refined version of "Good for You!" that's changed in the *Director's Cut*?

I'm glad you ate well and are doing mostly okay. Don't give up on the driving, even though it is scary. *hug*

What's the refined version
Not much difference. I dropped a couple of sound bites about dead people into the mix. And plus, Deckard is a replicant.

Please try to remember that we are here to learn and it sounds like you are getting your fair share of lessons. I read because you are my son and I care about you. Boring is why I don't keep a journal. Love ya, Mom
