So having been kicked in the ass on more than one occasion, I am reminded that my LJ is not a literary masterwork in which each entry must be edited, vetted and polished for formal presentation to the Algonquin Round Table and is, in fact, the place where I tell the people I care about what's going on in my head and the things in my life that I want to share.
Last week on eBay I won the other two DVDs of Invader Zim, and yesterday they both arrived in the post. Which made me go squee and do a happy dance and I took one of them to work with me so that I could gaze upon it lovingly betimes. Admittedly, after Exorbitant Shipping Ltd. took their piece (I'm fairly convinced that most people on eBay make the lion's share of their profit from inflating S&H) I probably didn't pay a lot less than I would if I'd just asked Amazon to send them both to me. And it was a little deflating to see the sticker on the back of the DVD I'd paid $10 for which read a price of $5.99.
The trip to Tucson to see Windrose has probably been turned into a trip to Florida at some unannounced later date, due to scheduling issues. However, it looks like tomorrow night I'll be drinking with Raven, who is currently the best thing about Los Angeles. Next weekend is the People's Choice performance for the Jewel of Opar, possibly a movie after. A fortnight hence, I hope to be in Bakersfield to see Miss Friday before she gathers herself and strikes forth to a more amenable locale. And within the month I hope to get** to Chicago to see HamGallon. Who likes ham.
And now I can't remember what other minutiae I was going to discuss. Apparently the excitement has chased it all from memory. We had a nice, not rainy day at work last week, and that was a lovely departure. Looks like perhaps we'll see more of that next week.
So this new cinematic technique of showing the spooky/supernatural/scary by doing weird time speed changes with the film--is that something that started with Japanese horror films?
The newest version of Firefox--well, to begin at the beginning. Firefox has a little pull down menu in the upper right corner with a search box which can be directed to Google, Blingo, Amazon, Yahoo and some other places. The newest update has added a bunch of new engines, including Wikipedia, Weather.com, BBC News, IMDB, Food Network, Merriam-Webster, Food Network... a bunch of cool options. This makes me unaccountably pleased.
And, almost as amusing as Geoffrey Chaucer, it appears that Samuel Pepys hath also a blog. At, unsurprizingly, http://www.pepysdiary.com/

** There was a brief interruption at this point, wherein the housemate (on her way out the door) asked me if there was something I'd forgotten at the store and I was suddenly reminded that this morning at the store I bought a caustic de-clogger and poured a bunch of it down the drain and then went to wait the specificied fifteen minutes.... several hours ago. So I curtailed my LiveJournalling activities and hied me hence to the bathroom. There does not, by the by, appear to be any permanent damage, and the clog is indeed unclogged.
