I've made another two LJ icons this morning, including a new Sharks icon in honor of the playoffs, bringing the grand total to eighteen in the past couple of weeks. Also, Tersa made me an animated version of the Zik Zak icon, which pleases me greatly. And now I have to go because Sarah Vowell is waiting for me at the library and I don't want to keep her waiting.

Alas. She's in LA today for the Festival of Books, but I'm here in SF for the housemate's birthday party.
What I meant was that the Mountain View library had a copy of the audio version of Assassination Vacation (which I am LOVING SO MUCH right now) on reserve for me, as soon as they finished preparing it for general circulation.

I have seen her a couple of times, but only from a great distance--she on stage and I in the audience.

M. and I had the opportunity to see her at a book signing at Bumbershoot last year, but like a dope, I decided I was too tired to stand in line.

Alas, I went to the LA Times Book Festival yesterday, and thus do not get to see Sarah Vowell at all. Her book was on sale at one of the booths, and I contemplated purchasing it. Perhaps I should have.

If your reading tastes are at all like mine I can only press you into action. The more of her work I read, the more I recommend her.
She is now my Pretend Celebrity Girlfriend. If you haven't read anything of hers then do yourself a favor and stop by your local library and ask them if you might borrow something--Take the Cannoli, or Partly Cloudy Patriot if AV is not available.
