My two favorite holiday themed children's books this year:

Frankenstein makes a sandwich
Manga Claus: The Blade of Kringle

Both spotted at the airport bookstore.

Speaking of work. I am reminded that I need to allow people some familiarity to adjust for my personal sense of humor.
One of the United employees whose desk adjoins mine was trying to stir up enough 'volunteers' to do a FOD walk.**
I, over at my desk, said "Oh! You get to go outside for a walk? You're so lucky."
She looked up and asked me if I wanted to go.
I sighed and said "My stepmother says I have to stay here and pick the lentils out of the ashes."
She crossed her eyes and took half a step back.
"I have to monitor this radio frequency. I can't go anywhere."
"Oh. Okay."

EDIT: If this weren't so expensive it would be pretty damned cool. But five bucks for a composition book seems like a lot of scratch. Hee. Pearl Station.
** FOD is Foreign Object Debris, stuff sitting on the runway which might get sucked into a jet engine and cause bad things. A FOD walk is roaming the tarmac picking up trash.

Obviously your coworker just had no blackbirds she could offer to help you with your task.

I'd volunteer to do the FOD walk for free if I could get a chance to walk around those huge cool machines I've always admired. A chance to walk around commercial aircraft as it moves on the ground sounds like exciting fun to me. I gladly pick up trash as I ogle the jets.

Is it Frankenstein making the sandwich, or his monster? ;)

Alas, from the cover illustration, it appears that it is in fact the monster. However, much like the Battle of Bunker Hill, decimated and the ATM machine, Frankenstein's Monster is a battle I have surrendered to those who are wrong.

I'm not generally a fan of large howling machines, but I have grown accustomed to thinking of the smell of diesel fuel as 'fresh air' so long as there's a stiff breeze accompanying it, and I would have gone on the FOD walk to get out and walk around in the sun and the breeze.

Foreign Object Debris. As opposed to Domestic Object Debris?

Actually, at the airport, the opposition to Domestic Object Debris is International Object Debris.
