So FlanVention--a maybe fan organized maybe commercial enterprise, very likely gigantic cockup--cancelled hours before the doors were to open. Since the people behind the convention had no funds, no refunds were available.
Apparently, many Fireflenity people heard about the state of affairs and arranged for a party in the bar of the hotel. Joss is still pretty much my master. (:
