Don't call me at eight in the morning. It's rude.

Don't call me at eight in the morning, and then put me on hold. It makes me think that you don't really value me as a customer.

You don't just say "No thanks," and hang up? You are more polite than me!

This is where having a ridiculously French name comes in handy. And no one ever calls me anyway so when the phone rings, I'm automatically suspicious.

And I never got an actual human being. I got a recording saying "This is an important call from CitiBank. Please hold while we put you on hold."
If it what that IMPORTANT then you'd have a god damned phone monkey make the call, wouldn't you? Instead of having a computer ask me to sit around and wait until you're ready to talk to me.

You fell into the trap, dear. (Although you managed to jump out again.) In the eyes of Marketing, EVERY call is important, and they want to dupe you into feel likewise.

CRITICAL calls ("Did you just buy 40 first-class airline tickets to Aruba, sir?") always come in the form of an actual human. Thus I hang up on computer calls before I even know who its from.
