I'm easy 'cause I let them win
Aug. 28th, 2007 10:58 pmZdashamber tagged me for a meme. I don't often get tagged for memes. So I said "What the hell."
I think I've done the 'seven things' gig before, but
a. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
b. Tag seven people to do the same.
c. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.
1. My new job has thrown my life... not off balance, because the old job really had me uncentered. Perhaps from one side of off balance across the center to another off balance point. I'm slowly finding my way back to center, though. This is something that could not be said at the old job.
2. Apparently, when I fall in love with somebody I stay that way. Luckily, it doesn't happen often and I have a pretty good track record for when it does happen.
3. I love song covers. Especially when somebody's doing something different with the song instead of just faithfully re-recording the song again. But I have a healthy distrust for movie remakes. I have no understanding of this dichotomy; it simply is.
4. As long as I can remember, I wanted to be slim and lithe, the five foot elf with eighteen dexterity. As long as I can remember, I've been the moose with a gigantic rack of antlers and big clumsy feet.
5. I miss physical contact. In high school, my social circle would sprawl on couches, or on the floor, or on the lawn, or wherever. Contact was casual and frequent--a head resting on a knee, a hand steadying on a shoulder, a hug, curling up next to somebody to watch a video. As time passed and my circle shifted or changed or grew older, it happened less often. Touch became a potent thing, laced with intent and meaning.
6. I occasionally miss drinking soda. But it's a lot easier now than I imagined it would ever be to give it up. I'm occasionally annoyed by my lack of non-caffeinated non-carbonated non-HFCS options, but I don't really miss it.
7. I miss singing. In school, I was in several different choirs. On a choir trip to Knotts Berry Farm, I cut a cassette tape in one of those karaoke booths. Even before pneumonia destroyed what little range I had and made me amazingly self conscious about singing where other people could hear me, I never imagined I had a great deal of talent. And I hate hate hate it when I hit the wrong notes. (Not because I'm worried about what other people think, but because a song is a small work of art and I don't want it damaged.) But one of the few joys that driving an automobile has brought me is a place where I can sing if I find something to match my range. Say, "Short Skirt, Long Jacket".
The 'you must tag other people' part was nearly a deal-breaker. But I trust my friends to be strong enough to resist peer pressure and say "Enh. No thanks," if they don't want to do it. My friends are clever that way. You should get to know them. You'd like them.
1. aleaxiactaxest because I've hardly met him and pretty much anything he says would be new and exciting to me.
2. aberdeen because if she has the time I always love to hear from her.
3. kirbyk because he has a knack for saying wise things and I am a bear of very little brain.
4. rivendellrose because she strikes me as somebody who'd be good at this sort of thing, and perhaps even a little likely to actually do it.
5. xleste because much like kirby she has a habit of saying wise things. Although her life is full so even if she reads this she likely won't have time.
6. mnarra because he is terribly clever and witty and makes me happy when he writes. Although his life is also rather full.
7. darth_snarky because she's on holiday and needs something to fill her time with.
I think I may do another of those random shuffle guess the lyrics things soon. I'll try to weed out the terribly obscure things that nobody but me has ever heard of. Me and JakeJr because she's out jetsetting about and has no time for trivial pursuits.
