Today my health and I made a deal.

I:
biked to work, and will bike home (hoping that my batteries are still good on my lights)
walked home from lunch
ordered the deep fried chicken bits with the sauce composed of cornsyrup and orange peel
(BUT!) ordered broccoli instead of the bleached white rice that usually comes with it

My Health:
will try to hold off on my first heart attack until I'm at least forty-one.

Good for you! It's so important to take good care of your body. I've always liked the "your body is a temple" school of thought, but as Emo Philips once said; "I think of my body more like a well-run Presbyterian Youth Center."

I'm seeing the results of a lifetime of not caring for your health through a couple of my friends who are about 10 years older than I am, and it's not a pretty picture. (I'll spare you the details.)

But it's never too late to start taking care of the physical aspect of your health, as well as the emotional and spiritual aspects. The human body has an amazing capacity to heal, as seen in those who quit smoking. (After 10 years their cancer rates are equal to that of non-smokers.) I've seen firsthand the power of exercise, eating right and getting enough rest. Too many of us let one or more of those three things slide, to our detriment.

Good Luck! (And hang in there. It gets easier.)
