So I made the mistake of reading comments on a political blog today.
Aside from the amazing 'death to my enemies' sniping between Clinton and Obama supporters which just makes me want to buy a flame thrower, I had a gobsmacking moment personally addressed to me.

One of the Obama supporters (who vehemently assured me that she was a woman) has demanded that I document the sexism in this Primary season, because she's convinced that any claims of sexism are all either fabricated by the Clinton campaign or she says "I would have never known about it, if it wasn't broadcast as being out there somewhere in some Rightwing nazi site."

My head hurts.

I live HERE, and I think that's a stupid comment. Sheesh.

Yeah, the painful levels of stupid have been far too visible this campaign season. It makes me cranky.

Y'know, I keep telling myself "it'll be okay, as soon as they actually pick a Democratic candidate everybody will forget this idiocy and go ahead with fighting the Republicans." But more and more I think I'm just lying to myself.

I give up. I can't even bring myself to use the funny politics icon for this stupidity, anymore. It's too depressing.

Oh, dear god. Hell, I ended up voting for Clinton in the California primary, not because I love her particularly (I had no real preference among the candidates), but because I was so damn exasperated at the sexist crap I was seeing on _leftist blogs_.

I've given up DailyKos entirely because of it.

Yeah, I may be an Obama supporter, but the stuff that's been written about Clinton is just uncalled for. There's been more than plenty of sexism, and I'd say it's far more blatant and coming from more mainstream places than the racism is. (Not that there hasn't been plenty of racism, but it seems that there are certain things one should not say or imply in polite, public society about black people, but far less restrictions on what one can get away with saying about women.)
