I flipped on LaunchCast today while ripping CDs and found a new band. Apparently the first album from a band called Simple Plan gets released tomorrow. The music is simple and 'punk pop', they're getting plugged heavily by the label and they're part of the hip and fly soundtrack for a teen movie.
The lyrics aren't terribly creative, but they're very evocative of being in high school. (I'm not sure why this is an attractive thing, actually.)
I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare.
Nobody cares and the world is having more fun than me.
I'd do anything just to fall asleep with you.
I close my eyes and try to sleep; I can't forget you.
I suspect that in a couple of weeks I'll have heard them seven or eight times a day at work and I'll loathe them, and won't have to wonder why I find them kind of attractive now.
I also discovered a series of records called Back to Mine. As far as I can tell, it's a bunch of mix discs, each put out by a different artist. EBTG, Morcheeba, and Danny Tenaglia were the names that first caught my attention, but apparently there are nine of them. Dunno yet if they're worth checking out.
And Jake brought over something she's checking out to taunt me with, since she wasn't about to leave it with me until she was finished with it.
I ripped a good dozen CDs and scrubbed the toilet and did some dishes.
Plus there was a craft night with half naked girls and banana pudding and margaritas.
