Welcome to the further adventures of Crappy Sleep Schedule and the Insomnia Crew.
Soon I will be in charge of the house, feeding cats and watering vegetables and all the housecleaning stuff. Plus I sort of volunteered to check on the gardens at Avalon once in a while.
The driving test, which combines my fear of driving with my fear of being tested and my fear of being judged, is still far away. But it looms.
Weather has been too hot lately.
My wonderful friends have told me a few secrets that have made my future look brighter.
Yay them, and I'm glad they stick by me.

Would you be able to go out and practice on the roads around where the test takes place? When I took my driving test, my dad basically took me around all the roads near it and had me do all the normal 3-point turns, etc. So when I was scared shitless and doing the test for real, it felt sort of familiar, and that helped.

This is actually a good idea. As one who lived far, far away from the DMV many moons ago, when I took my driving test I was in a completely unfamiliar neighborhood. Result: I came within an ace of running a red light. Had I done that I don't think I would have passed.

Crappy Sleep schedule with Insomina Crew? I think I'm doing a 10-day guest appearance on that show.

I ran a red light on one of my tests..heh.. of course I failed. I didn't pass until the 3rd try. But, y'know.. eventually I got there.

I'm scheduled for the Showers/Mountain View branch, which is down by San Antonio Road and California--more or less where I "grew up" here. One of the reasons I chose that particular branch, despite its inconvenient location.

Just to make you feel better, that's where I took my test. Even though you know the area, I'd still take a tour before the event. Sort of like rehearsing.

I agree. I grew up in Durham, NC and had problems driving to school, 1-2 miles from home, when I first got my license. It takes different types of attention skills to drive a road than to be a passenger on it. Rehearsing is what helps, not just knowing the area as a passenger. Of course, you may have already done so, which is good. Go team!

Ditto. I went through three or four permits and two or three tests before eventually getting there. (Memory's getting foggy in my old age.) Of course, a month or two later I had to turn in my license since they had to give me a new one with an M1 endorsement after taking an MSF class.
