cyrano: (Address Me)

So this week John McCain made the staggering revelation that it was not in fact the executive branch punching holes in the Constitution, nor the legislative branch's staggering failure to act on any of the pressing crises currently raging, nor those damn kids who won't stay off his lawn--it was, in fact, ACORN who is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.

I want *your* take for this weeks IFIAYAQD!
What is it that's destroying the very fabric of democracy that, if unchecked, could leave us in a democracy shortage by the end of the month and potentially forced to resort to draconian plutocracy by year's end if not stopped?
And you can't use "The voices in my head" because that's *my* answer.

What is it that's destroying the very fabric of democracy[...]?

Americans.

Extend adolescence indefinitely, exaggerate the sense of entitlement, and remove all sense of responsibility, and you've an average American.

Democracy is based on the notion that the common person is going to exercise responsible judgment to the benefit of the governed body. This experiment is doomed, here, until and unless Americans can, by and large, grow up.

Moths.

Well, strictly speaking, moth larvae.

We did not elect Andrew Shepard when we had the chance.

I mean, come on. Leadership. Vision. Trousers.

I'm torn on that. I'm in strong opposition on the herpes issue but I believe that his stand on the passive voice is one which should be given more heed.
(Plus? I think he's.... Canadian.)

Yeah, what you said.

I wouldn't hold out any hope for the growing up part though.
