Earplugs. If I must insist on going to see bar bands, I really need to invest in another bottle.
So I got to go to Emily's 'going away party' and see Urban Family Dog. It was good to see her happy, and it was good to see lots of people.
Alas, the performance suffered from many of the elements which drive me away from watching anybody perform live music. The volume was cranked up way too high, the bass bled all over everything, so the performance was essentially Noise Soup. The vocals were unintelligible, the horns were an atonal blare, and the bass guitar had been turned into a percussion instrument.
Which was frustrating, because it sounded like there was a band somewhere under the throbbing audio who might have been cool. But it did put me in the mood for horns-and-bass-guitar-band-with-a-message music, and so I'm going to go up and listen to my Crazy 8's albums when I get done here.
Plus, the lovely lead singer from Tenbone Martini and I shouted to each other and sort of communicated, and she gave me a CD with three of her songs on it.
But nobody played with my hair and braided it. ): I guess I'll have to hang out with Caredhel more often...
