In other news, I'm shopping to replace my car stereo.
Anybody with previous experience, please feel free to chip in on this conversation, especially as regards the who, the what, and the how. The where would be 'my car' and the why is 'because my speakers are blown, and the driver's side one goes in and out'.
EDIT: For those of you who stumble across this late, "stereo" is an ill chosen word, as I only plan to replace the speakers and wiring. Those guys who break into my car keep me cycling the actual stereo part often enough.

Date: 2009-06-08 08:45 pm (UTC)There is probably a loose wire to the speaker, but I'm also getting the distortion and pops and bangs that sound like the speakers are physically damaged.
Would 'worth checking' involve taking out the speaker from the door and looking it over?

Alpine used to make good stuff, but you have to be careful because some of it is now produced in Japan, and you'd want the German. A Blauplunkt, Pioneer or JBL would be good.
But get that iPod accessibility.
