Things I learned this week:

I don't like going a whole week without my email.

Cute boys smiling at me on the train is nice.

I need to find some time to go someplace where there's a nice beach and an ocean. Maybe Half-Moon or something.

Having your own hotel room makes the week far more relaxing and less stressfull than sharing it with a stranger.

I have no real idea where nice beaches are in California. But Oregon I still know pretty well.

How to list myself. (I'm now on stand by for a flight to Seattle on the seventh of November.)

There's way more to know about this job, ticketing and reservations and rescheduleing and what not, than I'm prepared to learn.

Coming home is hard. Being home is nice once you're settled.

Beaches in CA. The really nice ones are between Carmel and San Simeon, but that's a long drive from anywhere. In your area, there's Pescadero (with a deli and a nice restaurant in town) and Pigeon Point. Or Ano Nuevo --- watch out for sunbathing sea lions there. Actually the beaches up there are quite tranquil. Not like down here, where my favorite beach doesn't have any sand, just rocks, and is tiny.

Actually, one of my favorite beaches is the Yaquina Head beach, below the lighthouse. It's comprised entirely of little black rocks, over a rock foundation (so there are tidepools as well). It's a little crescent set at the elbow bend of the coast nestled beside the jutting prominence that the lighthouse is located on. It's ... somewhere between two and five miles off the highway, and varies wildly between completely overcrowded and entirely bereft of visitors.
The ocean makes the coolest noises when the waves come up and rattle the rocks.

I'm not even sure yet if I'm going to make it--plans are pretty fluid still, but we may be able to arrange something!

Thought I'd flip back through and check for more song lyrics I know that hadn't been picked off already. :) This one's The Pretenders, from "Human" which is on their truly great Viva El Amor! album and was the theme song for my late lamented tv love, Cupid, without which I probably wouldn't know Ellie as well as I do.

I'm convinced that my gold stars are much more valuable than Ellie's because so few of them exist.
I'm not sure if it's because people don't know them, or don't recognize them without the music as a cue, or just get so distracted singing to themselves that they don't enter the contest. (:
