Isn't that plagiarism?

This has pissed me off for quite a while, but it seems to be getting worse. I go and search for something, and I find one useful page and then the next fifty results are various sites that did a copy-and-paste on the first page and then threw a couple of advertisements next to it. This is not that useful. If I wanted to buy the entire Narnia Chronicles, handing me several thousand copies of page one of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe would.... not be what I had asked for.
More later.
More later.

Date: 2011-02-19 05:17 pm (UTC)Plagiarism is where you take someone else's text, and then attribute it falsely. Either no attribution at all attributing it directly to yourself.
What these people do is copyright violation, which is reproducing without permission. Usually these sites attribute the text, or perhaps there's no attribution at all. Either way, the legality is often questionable and is usually outright illegal, but it's also nearly impossible to actually enforce in any meaningful way.
