cyrano: (Endicott One)

Last call for alternative eighties dance night in Ann Arbor--Plastic Passion at Necto tomorrow night. I'm headed over the water and would not mind company. I'd say a wingman, but that implies that I'd be likely to talk to people I don't know.

The numbers on the new Vitamin Cyrano are a bit lower than Christmas or Valentine's. A bit lower in that I think there's one person besides me. This likely either means that the theme is not as attractive or that I've worn thin the patient tolerance of friends and family and an actual audience has yet to appear. This is not a guilt trip to a pity party, but it may change how I do things if the next installment runs about the same.

The visit with the nutritionist was... disappointing because I'm a smart person. She looked at the menu I composed yesterday and said mainly "this looks good, keep doing it, but more of it." More vegetables, frozen if they're not local is best. Protein with fruit. Here's a book with data on the composition of foods* and here are websites with more information, and here's one with recipes.

*This is actually wicked useful and was worth the $10 copay.

I *did* say "If the next installment runs about the same," which won't be for a couple of weeks at least. I'm not jumping into the chasm yet, but as a comparison I had sixteen hours in the first three hours for February as opposed to three hours this time.
(Hoping that there's no excitement beyond the waterfront property damage I've heard about thus far.)
Nutritionist lady was definitely pleased that I had the daily report for her, and apprehensive that I'd done something drastic and foolish in the past two weeks but my mighty brain soothed her concerns.

California is just fine, but the video coming out of Japan is horrific. Not the earthquake as much as the tsunami.

Also depressing? The US coverage that is insisting the earthquake happened at the intersection of the Pacific and North American plates. I never realized that Japan and Russia were part of North America. *sigh*

Actually, from the map on Wikipedia, it looks like the North American plate covers Siberia and runs down the coast of Japan.

Although according to that map, the report that it was the Pacific plate subducting under the Eurasian plate seems tricky, so it may not be the most accurate of maps.

To revise and extend my remarks:

1) The BBC is reporting the quake as being on the Pacific/Eurasian plate boundary.

2) The high resolution, computer-slowing USGS map is unclear about the exact boundary of the North American plate in Japan.

EDIT: The earthquake was definitely NOT on the North American plate, or the Eurasian either. Fascinating maps.
