cyrano: (Clean *ALL* the Things!)

So yesterday Jim mentioned that auditions for Incorruptible were last night and tonight. I took care of business at home last night, showed up tonight, read three times for the same part, and the director said "Here's a script--will you accept the role of the one-eyed minstrel con artist?"
So I guess I haven't taken on too much rust in twenty years of not auditioning. But I hope I'm not in over my head. I haven't counted lines, but there's a chunk of them, and she wants to know if I can learn to juggle and play a mandolin.
And, I mentally add, try to stop making the medieval French troubador sound like a Catskill vaudevillian or Groucho Marx. In my defence, one of my lines is "I don't know--how *does* a minstrel come to possess thirty pieces of gold?"

Also? CHICKEN! hee hee!

Congrats on picking up a role, good to know that you never really lose it, since its been like 3 years since i've even though about plays. So are you suposed to play the mandolin and juggle at the same time? that would be impressive.

It was kind of impressive--I've never been offered a role this big, and this time I just sort of walked in and took it.
I'm hoping I can handle the memorization.

I actually have about ten seconds between juggling and playing the mandolin, which is somewhat comforting.

Or, y'know, my first thought: you are what you auditioned for.

Congrats! And good luck learning to juggle. :) I've heard Juggling for Dummies is actually a pretty good resource.

Hey! Who you callin' one-eyed?

I grew up around the Klutz series, but I'm pretty flexible. I figured on heading down to the Barnes and Noble and perusing their extensive Juggling section to see what they had on tap.

Is there where I mention that I have a set of juggling balls?

Whoo! Sounds like an awesome amount of fun! I want pictures!

::wonders how much mandolin playing is involved ... and how much juggling::

Having now read the script, I can say that it looks like it only calls for about thirty seconds of each.
