The smell of the crowd

cyranoSo yesterday Jim mentioned that auditions for Incorruptible were last night and tonight. I took care of business at home last night, showed up tonight, read three times for the same part, and the director said "Here's a script--will you accept the role of the one-eyed minstrel con artist?"
So I guess I haven't taken on too much rust in twenty years of not auditioning. But I hope I'm not in over my head. I haven't counted lines, but there's a chunk of them, and she wants to know if I can learn to juggle and play a mandolin.
And, I mentally add, try to stop making the medieval French troubador sound like a Catskill vaudevillian or Groucho Marx. In my defence, one of my lines is "I don't know--how *does* a minstrel come to possess thirty pieces of gold?"
Also? CHICKEN! hee hee!
