Emma Bull just posted on her LJ that There's a new Bordertown anthology coming out soon.
I am running around in excited little circles. Those of you who know what Bordertown is, you understand why. If you don't know what Bordertown is, I'm not entirely certain I can explain the passion this announcement inspires. Suffice it to say that when I was in high school, I was desperate to get to Bordertown in the same way girls from Kansas want to get to Hollywood to be a star, or kids from anywhere but Seattle wanted to get to Seattle and sign on SubPop records. It was where the Elflands met Rock and Roll, populated by runaways and misfits, people without means who were trying to get by. It was a place full of stories.
If you've never been to Bordertown, if you like urban fantasy, you should visit sometime.

This weekend, ZDashAmber delivered a book on how to juggle from the once and future housemate. I mention it here because I want everybody to know how cool they both are. They're both Super Cool.

And below the cut is a photo I found on feministing today.

Here are some of the reasons I like paying taxes:

I love the Bordertown books. I look forward to the new one. (It was awesome gaming with you at Ambercon by the way.)

I kept seeing your name in emails and then on the internet. I'm glad we finally got in the same slot. (: It was a lot of fun.

Much rejoicing!

I love the Bordertown books as well! They are one of the main inspirations in my Dreaming City game series.

I've never read the Bordertown books. Hopefully I can find someone to lend me one or two....

There are things missing from that picture, you know. Like the police, who protect those people from me running up and punching them. And the fire department, who would put them out if I set them on fire. (Power and phone lines are not tax supported, by the way-- those are private enterprises. But the regulations that prevent those near-monopolies from forcing you to pay $500 a day for your phone/power or go without ARE tax supported.)

Also... "Cut taxes not defense"? Does she not understand how budgeting works? Defense has to be paid for, and taxes are the only income.

I get the impression that many of these kids failed Civics when they were in school.

his weekend, ZDashAmber delivered a book on how to juggle from the once and future housemate.

I should've mailed it the day after I picked it up, to be more timely (because then I read last week that you were off-book, before Zdashamber got there, and realized "d'oh, it may be too late"), but there's kind of a story about it.

I went to lunch with [livejournal.com profile] x_jerseygirl (you may remember her as the cute collegian who came out here for her spring break two years ago and stayed with us for one night) and she wanted to go down to Book Buyers. We were eating gelato so couldn't go in right away, so we window shopped--and there in the window was a display about various performing tricks, including that book about juggling. I decided it was Fate, and used the credit you left for me to pick it up for you. :)

I hope it does help.
