cyranoOf course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it' always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.

I think that, with the war on Iraq, Godwin's Law appears to have been reversed. The argument can't even start until one side or the other has been affiliated with or compared to the Nazis.
In other news, I think I like the new Tori Amos single. This will cause shock and disbelief among the Toriites of my readers, but she never really grabbed me before. I didn't turn off the radio when she came on, but I just sort of looked up and said 'hunh. that is Tori Amos.' and then went back to whatever I was doing.
In other other news, Erasure is coming to town the weekend of the 23rd to plug their new album, _Other People's Songs_. If you want to jump around like a chorus boy, this will be the place to do it, kids.
Even more other news: a couple of promising leads on housing. I'm looking forward to checking them out.
