No, it ain't so neat to admit defeat

cyranoThree day weekend was nice, but not enough. Still swollen. Still stuffy. Still not asleep. Still not King. But I got to have a lovely dinner with Cindy, where we got to talk about things that were not D&D.
The available shifts for the shift bid were released today. The bid will actually take place on the eighth, and the new schedule will begin on the eighteenth. Those of you who ever do anything social with me, prepare for upheaval.
None of the shifts are forty hours. Which does not bode well. But at least I'd get an extra day off rather than spending the same amount of time screwing around with work stuff. I could actually do something useful with all the time I'd be losing.
Life is crappy, and every once in a while I think to myself If I could just get a lucky break... and then I think No, because I've had a couple of lucky breaks. They just seem to be quickly followed by a couple of nasty breaks. If I could do that neat 'nesting an mp3 in my LJ entry' I'd probably put in the Moulin Rouge version of 'The Show Must Go On'.
But I have the best roommate in the world, and I have wonderful friends and I'm continuing to try and make my life livable.
So. Um. I like Michelle Branch. And I really like Santana. But... a song where the chorus starts off with 'Just takes a little bitta this, a little bitta that'--I can feel the IQ points being drained away from me like I was being hit by a space alien ray beam.
Surprisingly enough, I'm discovering I like Pink.
