How long do you look for something before you cross that border from "I must have misplaced it" into "I must have thrown it out"?

I know I had a little whiteboard before I moved....

When putting an object away to a new place, we need to imagine how we are going to find it afterwards )

Wheh I feel hopeless about finding a thingy, I remember an episode from a Russian comedy. Four men got blind drunk. One of them had to fly to another town. Two were asleep; the other two were unable to remember who was supposed to fly. Finally, one of them said:
- Well, let's finally take a logical route....

The other one agreed. It's only natural that they sent the wrong man to another town...

I dunno. I thought I had gotten rid of one of my super awesome jackets, because I couldn't find it last Saturday when I wanted it. I found it this morning, when looking for something else.

Damn, I should of thought of something else to look for, so that the vest I wanted would have magically materialized!
