After the War
Jul. 13th, 2011 04:20 pmGood lord. While helping another historian do some gaming research, I found myself submerged in <http://torchwood-1920.livejournal.com/profile>the Torchwood Game. And holy fucking god, I had forgotten just how damned good that game had turned out. It was my first attempt at running a game like a television show--each session an episode, with a beginning middle and end, rather than the meandering PC-reactive formula I usually use; character-centric episodes; thirteen episodes with an arc and a season finale; guest stars and two-parters--so there was a lot of nail biting about that. Props were made. Pre- and post-episode teasers, summaries, and DVD bonuses were written. PC-PoV summaries were done, with some amazingly chewy insights and other information that didn't show up 'on screen'. As much as I moaned about the shortcomings each week, that was a fucking amazing arc. And I would like to personally thank each person who made it possible.
