For the past few months I've been testing my blood sugar in the mornings. This means poking a needle into my finger so I can bleed on a piece of plastic. Despite my usual stupor this time of day, this morning is the first time I've stabbed myself cleaning up afterward.

Note to self: Check for more flechettes and more strips.

I bought you some flechettes. As I recall, you put them on the stack on the chair behind your desk.

I can pick up more strips for the Reli-On. You're on your own if you're using the Accu-Check.

Thank you, sweetie. When I get home, I can tell you which machine I'm using, but I'm pretty certain it's the WalBrand.

how did you manage to stab yourself?

(also, how often do you change flechettes?)

I use a new flechette every time, to avoid contaminating the current test.
And after ejecting the thing, I went to pick it up and put the safety cap on it, spearing the tip of my finger.

ah. I probably use a new flechette every, uh, month. Thereby having far fewer stabbing opportunities. But I also haven't stabbed myself (I put on the cap before I remove it-- this may be a matter of what brand one is using)
