I'm assistant stage manager for CVP's production of "Moon Over Buffalo", a farce about a performing company trying to keep things together enough to do one more show. It's going to be a lot of fun, and people should buy tickets fast because apparently they're nearly sold out.
But I didn't come here to tell you that story. I told you that story to tell you this story. I am over and over surprised at how hard it is to be behind the curtain--not because the work is grueling, unforgiving, and thankless, although I may tell you about that later, but because I keep wanting to be back out on stage. I'm going to be working very hard at not directing, and keeping my mouth shut, but it's becoming obvious to me that I'm going to have to try and find some balance between wanting to commit to projects like this and getting out of town to go other places.
