The pop music experiment continues. Amazon had this sale on certain popular albums from 2011. And so, in addition to Florence and the Machine, Of Monsters and Men, and the Black Keys, I picked up a copy of Katy Perry's Complete Confection for 99 cents. It may have been a mistake to listen to the entire thing at once; I may have been a bit oversaturated at the end. But now to let it settle for a few days and see if any of the catchy pop nuggets get stuck in my head.

I confess that I really like listening to Katy Perry. It's pop, it's ultimately shallow, but sometimes a girl just has to jam to something fun.

I have no idea (Erasure) what that's like.

Yeah, Katy Perry is sort of the McDonald's of pop music. Not much nutritional value, but really an achievement in itself in its sheer consistency (notice how almost all of her songs are 4/4 time at the exact same tempo? I've seen sheet music where people put "Katy Perry" down as the tempo marking) and in how easy it goes down. And also best enjoyed in moderation, since too much of it will get samey and constipating fast. :)
