Coyote Theater: Party People
Sep. 5th, 2012 06:35 pmOur first play out of the gate sparks a review.
Party People uses a gallery show with a retrospective on the Black Panthers and Young Lords to talk about.... a lot of things. But mostly about fighting for justice. It was a sensory landscape that used dance, music, light, motion, video, and narrative story telling, usually overlapping. I'm not sure the story knew entirely where it was going, and it felt fuzzier in the second act, but the technical skills of the actors and crew kept it on the tracks. I'm not big on standing ovations for just anything, but this performance nearly got me on my feet. If you haven't been to Ashland this season, then you still have two months to catch this one.
