I finally got to see another almost-caught-up episode of Doctor Who last night, The Crimson Horror. And I liked it! The plot line made sense, more or less, character motivations felt good, and there was a return appearance by Dame Diana Rigg, and Comedy Relief Sontaran, who was the best part of the episode despite going a little too far over the top. (Horse? You have failed in your mission.) I liked the way they handled the optigram and the sonic screwdriver (as much as I like the sonic screwdriver, at least), and it's always nice to see somebody rescuing the Doctor for a change.
This episode reminded me a lot of Classic Who, particularly Talons of Weng Chiang and Horror of Fang Rock, which I suppose would make Jenny a Leela. And I'm calling it, with only three to go, my favorite Matt Smith episode.
