This week on It's Friday I Ask You A Question Day, I ask you to do my work for me.
I currently have five Fiasco playsets in mid-construction, and there's this part of the playset where you list books, movies, media that the players can watch in order to get the atmosphere of the playset down. What I'm asking from you is your thoughts for inclusions on this list. Here they are, in alphabetical order.
Blood of the Lamb: It's the Council of Nicea/Council of Trent/Diet of Worms/New Pope selection time. There's a lot of hushed whispering, dealing behind the scenes, sharp knives in dark rooms, and of 'more pious than thou'. And some of it may have something to do with the business at hand.
Dashing Goggles: Straight up Steampulp, with square jawed very British heroes exploring undiscovered and fantastic places, fighting aliens or natives, or defeating treacherous blighters from over the Channel. If you decide to run this game somewhere else, change out for the appropriate nouns.
Propriety and Perfidy: An Austenesque comedy of manners and manors, but with a lot more unfortunate mishaps and far bigger scandals. In fact, I'm planning on having a panel of scandals to choose right out of the gate.
Rockets and Rust: Steampunk in a sooty city where those that has live above the smog and eat delicate canapes while those that hasn't try to avoid lethal trouble and the constabulary and maybe if there's time they can try to pull off that big caper that will leave them set for life.
Screams in the Fog: Gothic horror, penny dreadfuls, all those books you make certain are hidden before company comes calling. Shocking violence, horrific immorality, sometimes monsters (and sometimes humans are the scariest monsters), and of course blood. Lots of blood, and if there's a spare limb or two that would not go amiss.
