Quick mini-review of LXG (Distinguished from the comic book, which is LoEG):
I enjoyed it far more than I expected. I laughed out loud, more than once. There are plot holes. There are moments where suspension of disbelief is put in a figure-4 leg lock and made to cry like Tammy Fae. Much of the writing is awkward. But it was fun. I would pay matinee price to see this film once.

I've had mixed feelings about seeing this film. On the one hand, I loved the Alan Moore comic on which it's based. OTOH, the film was plagued with the sort of production problems that usually translates into Whopping Bad Movie. There was a time when I would have gone to see it simply because of Sean Connery, but bitter filmgoing experience (i.e., "Highlander II") has taught me the error of my ways.

Important first step when thinking of watching this movie:
I spent about a week divorcing it from the Alan Moore comic series. The LXG/LoEG thing was very helpful in that.

I can see that. From the trailers, it really does seem to have little resemblance to the comics.

I can't remember. Did you see "From Hell" and what did you think of it? I rather liked it, and thought it stayed very true to the spirit of the series.

I did see "From Hell" (In top hat and frock coat) and also rather liked it.
However, I have not yet applied myself to the tome that Master Moore wrote on which it was based.
I do hope to correct this in the future, however.
