I have the best housemate in the world. She made me yummy chicken and broccoli for my going away.
Which involves leaving for Seattle, and spending my vast copious weekend there, and coming home with just enough time to do laundry before I have to return to work.

I finished American Gods, which started out feeling a lot like reading Good Omens without the zany wacky Douglas Adamsesq absurdist humor, but got different. I squeaked in surprise more than once.

This was a big week for pop music.
I heard Dido's new single and really dig it. (Big shock there.)
I found out that Kelly Clarkson, who has a single I like, was on American Idol. Who'd have thought *that* show would produce anything useful?
Found out that Unka Cracka is responsible for the remake of 'Drift Away' I've been hearing the past few months.
Discovered that there's a Jewel song I actually like. Again, who'da thunk?

Movies with high hottie content. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom (who is finally not blonde again yay), Stuart Townsend (who I must have seen in something before), and Keira Knightly (who was still blonde in the movie but looks so much better with darker hair, thank you Ebonlock).
I'm wearing eyeliner to my next pirate role playing game.

Surely you jest! Even I, with my head firmly entrenched in the sand, knew that.

I jest not. And don't call me Shirley.
I remember people talking about 'the fat guy' or 'the brother' depending on who was talking, and 'the vaguely effeminate guy'.
That's about it.

I blame Newsweek and news radio for what I'm about to say.

The people you describe having heard were part of "American Idol" season 2. Kelly Clarkson was the winner of the first season. And the movie "From Justin to Kelly" starred the aforementioned Kelly Clarkson and her runner-up, Justin, who are apparently, at the very least, very close friends since their shared experience competing against one another.

And now I have to go wash my brain out with lye soap, for knowing all this.

(Down with reality TV!)

Oh! I had no idea who Kelly was, and figured Justin was Justin Timberlake.

I saw the big tome on the table. Which is partially driving me nuts, because my paperback copy of American Gods has gone missing, and I could've sworn I'd loaned it to you. And if I apparently didn't, I don't know where the hell it is. And I hate that. *hrmph*

Either in a spoiler'ish post or offline, you should tell me what parts you squeaked at. :)

Me, being geek that I am, decided to figure out where I've seen Stuart Townsend before. I'm sad to say I've found out and now remember where I've seen him even if I never saw the movie because, ohmigod, I can't believe what they did to the book. Yes, Stuart Townsend played Lestat in Queen of the Damned. That's why he looks familiar.

Hrm. Having never read the book and having no emotional attachment to it, I may have to see this film.
My friends who saw it described it like xXx--no brains, lots of pretty sparkles, and a thumpy rockin' soundtrack.

Say.. did you get a note from me the other day about this Sat?

I apparently failed to get the note.
But I arrived in Renton tonight. I'm leaving my cel phone off a lot because I was stupid and forgot to pack my charger. Contact through Larry is probably best. But I'd either like to come down or lure you up here on Saturday.
