cyrano: (sleepy)

Yesterday I found out that Susan, who is adorable and whom I adore, got promoted to a part-time shift in Operations, which pretty much nails the coffin on my getting in there any time in the near future. It's frustrating, because I'm seeing lots of people getting moved into different positions (Laura is a temporary Baggage Supervisor, whatever the hell that means), and they're all less senior than I am.

Anyway. Musical guests included Bernadette Peters, and today Julian Cope. (Well, actually it turned out to be Julie Ann Pope, I just misheard and startled her when I turned around very quickly to see her.)

I could never do your job. Well, for many reasons, but among them, I would be a sycophantic fan-girl when people like Bernadette Peters showed up.

It's not too hard, really. I just think to myself "If I were a famous fabulous person like Peter Shickele or Claudia Christian, about to enter a tiny metal box full of people, would I want attention drawn to myself?" And then I think "No, no, probably not." And I beam quietly to myself about how nice I'm being to this person I'm fangirly about, and sometimes giggle giddily.

I don't doubt it. Does you boss like you? Is there anyway to figure out, openly or on the sly, what the promotably qualities they are looking for are?

As far as I can tell, my bosses adore me. Their big disappointment appears to be that I don't act more like a supervisor and take responsibility for directing and instructing the junior agents. (And senior agents.)
I don't know if you caught it, but the last position I applied for, I was told that the reason I lost out was because I had two sick days this year; otherwise we were that evenly matched.
