I just bought Angel season 1 for $15. I think I can take that hit. Tersa, I also bought a second copy. If you want it, happy birthday. Go go Consumer Coyote!
Saw City of Lost Children last night. Whatever I was expecting, that wasn't it. (I had gotten the idea from somewhere that it was modern and took place somewhere in India.) I really liked it--I bet Terry Gilliam did too. I may need to find a copy of my own. Steampunk stuff, Ron Perlman out of make up, and an ending that makes more sense than most anime. (No I'm not bitter about Hellsing. Why do you ask?) Bonus good news, it got me thinking and gave me ideas for writing which I could really use given the stagnant state of my writing projects.

City of Lost Children was one of the stranger movies I'd ever seen. I mean, seriously. How many movies are there where the bad guy is a brain in a tank? (At least, I think he was the bad guy. I haven't seen it in some time.) One of these days I should watch it again...

Irwin, the brain in the tank, was definitely on the bad guy team, but I'd say that the scary guy who dressed up as Father Christmas and frightened the children to steal their dreams was the main bad guy. But yeah, it was strange. (It was french science fiction. No surprise there.) And, for the most part, I'd say I approve of strangeness in movies.
If you want, I"ll put together a list of movies that possess strangeness that I enjoyed. (:
