I have a pair of silk trousers, and one of the cuffs has come unhemmed. I'm nervous about my usual trick of just re-hemming them by hand because it's silk and I don't want it to look crappy. Does anybody have any suggestions reassurance or know people who do this sort of thing on demand?

Generally speaking, I've never had too much trouble with silk behaving much like anything else, though lighter in weight.

If you have access to silk thread, that's always a plus. You'll want a very fine needle, so that it doesn't leave much in the way of holes. Silk doesn't 'heal' well after being stabbed.

If you've done hems before, you should be pretty okay. And hey, who's studying the hem of your trousers anyway? =)

Well, the big problem is that the unhemmed leg is a good four inches longer than the hemmed one and I look pretty dorky.
I was considering duct tape or some sort of goey iron-activated adhesive to avoid the poking. (:

You really don't want to do anything adhesive on silk. It'll show through to the other side, because it's generally fairly thin.

The little-stitches plan is much better, if you have the patience for it.
