I'm apparently done being Thankful, or perhaps the world is no longer on holiday. I confess to not knowing a whole lot about the 'Cuban exile community' but incidents like this do not improve my initial impression that they're kind of thuggish and 'ends justifies the means' sorts of people.
And since the violence in Iraq in October was all about trying to influence our elections* (as we know, everything that happens in the world is All About Us), would we say that the deadliest sectarian attack in years therefore must be an attempt to influence our holiday shopping? Or did they just get told by a deceptive poll worker that election day was *December* seventh?
And lest you think that I am all about the depressing news, I did find this article, about new breeds of more nutritional 'retro wheat'.

* Here they are, getting up every day saying, “We’ve got an election in two weeks in America, gang, and we want to change horses over there because we don’t like the folks we’re having to deal with now; they’re a little tough on us. So let’s get out there and let’s make some noise.“
--Don Rumsfeld
As I discover that Glen Greenwald apparently had the same thoughts as I did.

And it's a special holiday edition of Ask Me A Question? Friday! Which means... um. First, that probably nobody will read this unless they're really bored on Monday at work. Second, that all entries should end with the second question (Or first if you haven't been able to come up with your own) of "Would you like some more turkey?"

I have a strong interest in cross-genre icons. I have noticed this on occasion and apparently am bored at work and have decided to share this. It is, of course, much better if I actually have an interest beyond passing in both/all genres involved,

but if cleverly crafted then interest in one is sufficient

or even neither.

EDITED TO ADD SOME SUBSTANCE:
Wow. I just read this article about Princess Jazmin and I'm all thankful again. Yay her.

I have manipulated a few elements, I have pulled on puppet strings, and I am now excited about the trip to Ashland again.
It's quiet here at work. I was poking at Ashland-related stuff, and think I'm going to skip Tartuffe, so I plotted Romeo&Juliet, Tempest, As You Like It and On the Razzle for... I think 2 to 5 October. And then I was looking for someplace to stay, preparing to pony up because I was considering trying to avoid renting a car this year--maybe making mnarra shuttle me back and forth for visitings.
And then I saw this place.
EDIT: Or a garden suite at this place.

*whine*

Mnarra? If you want, please feel free to provide your local knowledge or internet skillz and tell me about places you recommend which are within walking distance of the ticket office. But this place has a garden...
Gardens are nice. Skylights, jacuzzis, wireless internet, kitchens (or at least refrigerators), rooms that look like places to live rather than hotels, pools, gyms, all of these are good selling points. (:
Admittedly, the lovely view, the open spaces, the fine company and the cozy accomodations make staying out at Eagle Point attractive as well.... Too many decisions!
