This LA Times editorial destroys the case for Proposition Eight (The California ballot measure to confine marriage to a contract between a man and a woman) by applying FACTS.

I don't think that anybody on this journal who isn't already voting against Prop8 or wouldn't vote against it will be swayed by this article. But maybe you know somebody who would. Or maybe in the next twenty-four hours you'll be discussing it with somebody who would. And you can say "Oh hey, yeah, that New Jersey case where the issue wasn't gay marriage, it was the exemption the church was receiving from taxes" or "Oh hey, yeah, that Massachusetts case where the issue wasn't gay marriage, it was an adoption agency receiving public funds from the government".

It's that time of year. On 17 November, they open the floodgates and I order my tickets for next season's Oregon Shakespeare Festival. As usual, I would love to share this experience.

If you have any interest in seeing one of the best repertory companies in North America do their thing, let me know.

The big draws this year are likely MacBeth, Much Ado About Nothing, The Music Man, and Don Quixote, but there are a collection of other plays. I'd be happy to tell you more about them. (I need to see Equivocation.)
I usually go for the cheap seats (40% off after 05 October) but I've proven that I can be flexible. The season starts in the Spring, The Elizabethan opens in June.
