I'm not waiting on a lady

Those of you who knew I was expecting a phone call today from EDD about whether or not they'd allow me into an education program where I would continue to receive unemployment benefits while I attended class and also had the keen eyes to spot my offhanded lament this afternoon could probably guess that things didn't go well.
It was, as I feared, a session where I was asked questions they should already have the answers to, and then they said "We'll get back to you next week". I'm no longer certain if that's preferable to just being told that they decided to deny me. Because at least then it would be *done* and I could *move on*.
So I had a smoke, and I had a drink, and now my head hurts and I've been drinking water all evening. I can't put off buying books any longer, so I'll work something out there. And tomorrow I have the first day of my final class, and I should be able to tell what gets dropped. So for now I'm going to pretend that things are normal and I'm just a student who's packing up everything he owns and moving.
