I have spent the past few days trying to get iTunes to recognise and add a new mp3. I picked up some free downloads by The Like at rcrdlbl.com(*) and while two of them went into the library easily, the third balked. I would say 'get that file' and iTunes would quietly hum to itself as if it hadn't heard me. I tried changing the file name. I tried changing its location. I tried shutting down iTunes, then rebooting entirely. I tried importing another file and then trying that one again.
Nothing worked.
Finally, today, I:
Opened the file in Audacity, translating it to an AAC file
Translated it back to mp3 format
Saved the file, with a new name
Re-imported it.
I win, technology.
(*)Dear RIAA: I just bought a copy of The Like's new CD for a friend's birthday. With my next paycheck, I plan to buy myself a copy. Based on my enjoyment of the free downloads.
Just sayin'.
