In which is it amply displayed that I have only ripped the CDs in my collection up to 'Jesus Jones', because F-R takes less space than A-E. (:
When Falco released his 'Greatest Hits' album, many of the cuts had been remixed or updated. I really like the police sirens on Der Kommissar.
I confess to never having heard the original Ja Sha Taan, but anytime DGU gets involved I'm there for the party. (: And thus, TGU's spin on Fun Da Mental.
More proof that I'm a child of the '80s; A few years back, Howard Jones did a tour, and it was pretty much just him and a piano. I really love the 'me and my keyboard' version of You Know I Love You (Don't You?).
So.... does it count if KMFDM did a remix of a cover they did? If I had gotten that far in the ripping I'd have included something of theirs that was original, but as it is I do have the funky 'Bombs' remix of These Boots Are Made For Walking. I love En Esch singing Nancy Sinatra in that gravelly almost tuneless voice of his.
As much as I love the original Inertia Creeps, I think that State of Bengal does Massive Attack one better with this mix. Not so much Pure Sex, more swelling like the dark ocean.
Now, speaking of Pure Sex. I don't know where the words came from for this remix of Hey Pretty by Poe, but it sounds like William S. Burroughs' son or Hunter Thompson on a lucid day or something. This mix was on Hamgallon's excellent mix, part of the Great Audiography Mix Trade.
Ellie's Amazing Sister once sent her a mix tape with a remix of Midfield General's Devil in Sports Casual and I have been utterly unable to find that mix again. But I kept bumping into the Fatboy Slim remix, which has at least provided a tolerable substitute. 'Cause you're the demons, you're the devils, and you know that! And your music, Rock and Roll music, is a satanic... is a satanic music!
Technically Omar Faruk Tekbilek should probably be under the 'T's but he's not so we'll all just have to deal with it. The original Shakshin is good and all, but I like my traditional world music a little less traditional. So I bring you the Hefner mix.
And for those of you who dissed 'Shiny Happy People' during your Guide to REM (you know who you are, you scamps!) I bring you This new mix which brings me great delight.
And that's it for today--see you on the flipside, Sechrest Out!

Date: 2005-06-30 12:32 am (UTC)I believe there's a video of "Furry Happy Monsters;" it was on Sesame Street or a Muppet Show thing, I want to say?
Also, I pretty much never place your song lyrics, but I did recognize this one!

(I really love that Poe song--I'm going to have to buy the album.)
