And for those of you concerned, aside from the new tyres which I would have had to replace anyway and my frayed nerves which were already ina bad shape because I hate driving, the only real casualty yesterday was my frozen dinner.

Tyres do need replacement every now and again. They are the source of the expression "Where the rubber meets the road." I would recommend having them checked/rotated when your car and/or brakes are serviced.
