More face fuzz discussion here.
So there was a considerable 'goatee' faction in the last vote. Is there anybody Photoshoppy enough to whip up a crude (or not so crude) imagination of what I'd look like with a goatee? Admittedly, it would make it harder to hide the fact that I'm from the Mirror Dimension of Evil Doubles, but I'm willing to consider it.
This morning I dug out my electric trimmer, trying to avoid the Grizzly Adams look if I can help it. It still makes that same deafening blatting noise unless the screws are tightened, at which point the blades stop moving. Anybody on my flist (there are very few of you) with advice for beard care, feel free to speak up. What have you found that works?

My clippers have a little plastic screw thing on the side that is supposed to be adjusted to make the clattering stop. Dunno if yours has something similar.

You have to be sure to lube the clippers regularly. That's what lets them move when tightened.

Wow... so dirty.

I've an amazingly noisy trimmer, as well. I just learn to cope with the noise. lil_m_moses has the right notion; the screw stops the clattering, and da_zhuanq was right, lube it. Don't use just any lube; get the stuff intended for the job, as a thicker lube will collect hair and become a pain.

My prefered method, though, is to stand patiently while Bridgette trims whatever is needful between knees and skullcap with a pair of thread scissors and a razor. She has a much better regulated hand than mine. The commute is a bit much, but perhaps one of your more local admirers could be prevailed upon....

You asked for it...
