I now have all six episodes of 'Thirty Days'. I was just struck by the factoid that families that make under $25K a year are twice as likely to divorce. So... sanctity of marriage people, how about a raise in the minimum wage law to preserve marriage? Or a more healthy and robust public welfare system? Think of the children!

Watched 'Last Boy Scout' and 'Presumed Innocent' this weekend. Netflix Noir Film Festival. (: I really enjoyed both of them--very different but at the same time very similar. Each gets four wags.

I got to see my friend Anne (who is now a teacher in Bakersfield) and help her with her lesson plan yesterday, even if I was sad and lame lying on my back guy.

Sitting on the couch very quietly, currently on the 'heat' of the 'heat and cold' programme. The heat is a sticky pad so it's going to hurt to remove it. Plus I'll have to get off the couch to get the freezy thing. I'm not in a big rush. (:

<-- Was Administrative Assistant/Receptionist... now Office Manager.

I was very lucky to be in a job for the 5 years during the worst of it in 2000 to 2005. The beginning of this year I lost my job due to everyone starting to work from home. I was unemployed from February until early June. I worked a few odd jobs as a temporary employee when I could. My fiance lost his job in November of last year. He just got a job in mid-May. He was allowed unemployment. I was allowed none (yeah and when I dislocated my knee and was unable to work for a couple of months, I wasn't allowed disability either...) Gotta love California.

My husband has ADD that does prevent him from finding and keep work... that doesn't qualify as a disability either.

Where in California are you?

Oh... It is beautiful.
The weather is spectacular.
The bugs are small and non-annoying.
The land is spectacular.
The ocean is close and beautiful.
The people are... they are okay... some shallow buggers - but mostly nice.
I could do without the cost of living though.

BTW... I hope you don't mind... I added you to my friends list. :D

I noticed! That's cool :D

Poor [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano we're so jamming is in-box, assuming the comments are being mailed to him. ;-)

I adore most of California, especially the coast. I just know that we'll never be able to buy a house here- and really, why would I want to sign up for $3000 a month house payments for the next 50 years?

We're seriously looking at moving away...

After [livejournal.com profile] guavas and I get married (in september) and get settled for a while I think the option of moving away from here will be more of a possibility.

I just have to figure out... How long does my parents paying for a $30,000 wedding require us to stay near them... >.>

Eep! $30k on a wedding? They may opt to keep you around until the oldest grandbaby is in college.

It would be less if they un-invited their friends that I barely know. :D

Hahahaha!! It's true!

We actually made our parents nuts by not letting them do ANYTHING for our wedding. It was really nice though.

I hope that your wedding is perfect ;-)

On the contrary, my dear. It delights me when my entries have lots of comments. (Strictly my own vanity, you understand.) It delights me when my friends have stimulating conversations, whether I am involved or not, in my proximity. And there is a certain added frisson of joy when two people from unconnnected social circles friend each other after meeting through myself. Thus, I am thrice pleased, and the state of my mailbox could not concern me more than a fillip.

You should, in fact, assume this. I take it you have not yet received my IM that I sent upon safely arriving home.
