I've had a few unpleasant things happen to me and near me the past couple of days. It kind of feels like they're ganging up on my. The current events section of the newspaper has not been helping. However. I have opted against posting a laundry list of what I'd like to complain about. I have been thinking that, much like some of my friends, I should begin a weekly posting of good things.
This meshes nicely with something my girlfriend cerulean_me posted today and asked me to repeat.

Just looking back at the last few days, I'm really depressed. I think that a lot of people are. There is so much negativity.

I'm hoping to start something like a meme... Just to change the mood a little- help me! :)

I'm just going to list some good things. So, if you want to participate, I want you to list some things that your are happy about. Or maybe post a picture that makes you smile- maybe one of your love, you kids, pets- hell some random photo that makes you happy is cool. Post about an incident that warms your heart- I don't even care if it's one of those e-mail forwards that some AOL user sent you for the 15th time. Just post SOMETHING positive, and pass this along.

1. The weather.
This summer the weather here has very rarely crept into the ranges of sweltering meltitude that makes me feel ill. Things have been pretty pleasant, and I'm looking forward to the hills turning that brief green they get.

2. Tina's crunchy spinach dip.
One package Knorr's leek and onion soup mix
Half a dozen (more or less) scallions, chopped
Sixteen ounces sour cream (may be fat-free, or perhaps yogurt)
Two cups mayonnaise (may also be fat-free)
Two tins of chopped water chestnuts
One package (eight ounces?) frozen chopped spinach
Thaw. Mix. Snarf.

3. Dinner and company.
Last night I went down to Castro with Tersa and Ebonlock and we got bento and talked, which I really don't have enough of. There were people, there was food, and there was conversation.

4. Becoming a pedestrian again.
After dinner I walked the three quarters of a mile home. It's been a really long time since I walked any real distance overland. It's a very different perspective, especially after dark. I saw some things I had never seen before, despite their being very close to my home.

5. The ocean.
When I get to work, and drive up to the top of the parking garage (eight floors, which gives me something like 117 steps to walk up and down) there's this wonderful breeze that whips off the bay, and it never fails to make me feel ennervated, to raise my energy levels just a little. Plus, the view from up there (night and day) is impressive.
