cyrano: (Neural Response)

So I'm leaving in less than an hour and have furious packing to do, along with the usual getting ready for work.
You'll never guess what I'm doing.
Well, okay, I guess you did. Yes, I'm working on that REMade mix disc And I am tearing the house apart because I can't find the REM--Eponymous album. Argh.
But I found the William S. Burroughs 'Star Me Kitten' and their cover of King of the Road.

I've got pretty much everything, including the "in the attic" album that the KotR cover is on, their cover of "First We Take Manhattan," and more, if there's more you need when you return. I was trying to think of people who've covered them, and I don't think I have much (if anything) but I'll let you know if I do. There's a Matt Nathanson live track in my collection where he slides into "You Are The Everything" right at the end, but just a segment of the song, not the whole thing.

Is 'Manhattan' off of I'm Your Fan? I was pretty sure they did something on that album, but Rhapsody doesn't know anything about it.

Either that or the other Cohen tribute album (Tower of Song) I've got, I forget which. I think it's I'm Your Fan, though. I have some other various artists albums with their stuff (including the Burroughs one, which you said you already found) that I can look through, too, if you like.

That would be great. I was at first trying to just come up with covers of REM songs, but four tracks does not a mix disc make. (: So I've expanded my horizons.

It'll have to wait until I can see you, though, as I lack bandwidth at home. I can bring real cds for you to burn the songs from next time I'm down. If you need them sooner, I can probably rip the files at home, transport them to work on cd-rom, and send them from here, but that's kind of a pain. :)

The Nathanson track with the partial cover (maybe one verse + chorus) of You Are the Everything, however, is available from my sekrit folder of mp3s on my work computer, and here I have bandwidth, if you want it. Just tell me where.

Please note that there is no rush. (: I have about six mix discs that I am in mid-mix on. At this point, the Veronica Mars track list is done--I'm looking for a specific image for the liner notes, and I'm getting brickwalled on it--but the rest are in a state of partial completion and have no special event compelling their creation.
(Um. As far as bandwidth, you can send it to the Yahoo account, or put it on yousendit.com )

Hm, don't think I have that email address for you. (Currently listening to my MN playlist, trying to figure out which song it's tacked onto the end of. Oh, such hardship.)

(Hrm. Is it six? Good for You, REMade, Generation X+1 (which threatens to enter mitosis at any time and become two discs), Do You Speak It, Sick and Wrong....)

I have a ton of mixes that exist only on paper, so you are far more motivated and ambitious than I. Maybe when I have the hard drive space I'll do more.

You've got incoming...
