Oct. 28th, 2005 03:44 pmStephen Colbert interviews Senator Barney Frank, 27 Oct 2005
C: It seems like fewer and fewer people are upset, or frightened about homosexuals. What can homosexuals do to reinstill people with an irrational fear?
F: That's a little sillier than I think I'm ready to respond to.
In general I find the Colbert Report to be vaguely amusing or (I'll say it) boring. But that final exchange made me feel all warm and happy inside.

Date: 2005-10-29 05:02 am (UTC)I'm sorry I missed that exchange. OTOH, the Colbert Report just doesn't hold my attention the way the Daily Show does.

Date: 2005-10-29 04:01 pm (UTC)...the problem with the Colbert Report is the concept. He's trying to lampoon news magazine shows that are more about the host than the news. (Larry King, Nightline, O'Reilly Factor all spring to mind.) But he just hasn't hit the target yet. The humor is too obvious. Sort of like being hit over the head with a hammer. Yes, media stars are funny (see Broadcast News among others), but let's focus.
I doubt the show will last.
